Escape report T/Sgt F.C. Moyer (serial number 15324800)

T/Sgt F.C. Moyer crashed in Seine Maritime on July 8, 1944. He was immediately helped by the underground and his story is therefore very short. You can also read Lt Myron E. Sabin's escape report; Sabin was pilot on the same flight.

"I was a crew member of a B-17 shot down on 8 July 1944 at Ronchois par Gaillefontaine, S.I. near Neufchatel. I was helped immediately by Albert Bienaimé (?). I stayed at his house at Ronchois for 5 days. Maquis forces then came nd took me to Toupray, where I stayed with them for about 7 weeks, until Canadian troops arrived at this vicinity on about 30 august. I was sent by them to Bayeux and from there by plane to UK.

When I arrived at Toupray, I met Lt Joseph C. Dick of Rd#1 Graham Road, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, RAF officer John Thoroughgood and another US pilot (Mustang) with a name which sounded like “John Shannock”. I subsenquently lost track of these people, but after I joined allied troops I met my pilot, Lt Sabin, who is now in England.

While at Toupray, I stayed several times at the home of Emile Seliel (Source pronounces this “SOULIER” but insists on the above spelling). He lived close to where I was staying. "
