Sgt Jerome Ornstein* (serial number 36736362)

 

Jerome Ornstein took part in World War II as an airman of the 397th BG. He was photographer during the bombing raid on the Sartrouville/Maisons-Laffitte railway bridge on June 24, 1944. He was aboard one of the four B-26 that were shot down during that raid. He bailed out above Epône about 25 miles west of Paris and was immediately arrested by the Germans. After being interrogated in Elisabethville (Source: Seipel's Memoirs), he was sent to Germany and detained in Stalag Luft 4 Gross-Tychow.
